Rebuilding of St. Michael Church hits milestone with placing of Steeple & Cross

The reconstruction of St. Michael the Archangel Church on Liberty Street in Pawcatuck reached a milestone in July, 2017 as the new 40-foot spire and cross were raised and placed atop the steeple. A large crowd of parishioners and passersby gathered to watch as a crew from Campbellsville Industries Inc., out of Campbellsville, Ky., raising the majestic structure into place.

This steeple replaces the steeple Church Specialities placed on St. Michael’s church in 1996, which was also manufactured by Campbellsville Industries. During the 2017 renovation the steeple from 1996 was removed and this larger more ornate one was put in its place.

St. Michael’s Church is still using the same Chime Master Systems carillon that Church Specialties installed during the 1996 restoration.
